Terraform Learning - InDepth

If you are looking to learn terraform in-depth there are two good books on it, first one is

Terraform up and running - Yevgeny Brikman

https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/terraform-up/9781492046899/

This is a good book which discuss live examples and covers production grade code writing as well as how to test your terraform code.  It's one of the fantastic resource to start with if you are looking to scale up in terraform.

There is another book from manning called "Terraform in Action".  This is another fantastic resource and its a bit in-depth compared to the Yevgeny Brikman's book ( the one referred above ).  This has use cases with Go and how to integrate Go and terraform as well as writing a custom provider in Go.

So its a nice guide if you want to know TF at 201/301 levels.

My favourite part in this book, is the live example of coding a three tier architecture using root and child modules.  This is a really useful example that is used a lot in your production implementation.

You can checkout the book from manning at

https://www.manning.com/books/terraform-in-action

Please leave your comments on some of the good blogs or books or courses that we can use for terraform learning.

My personal take is, this tool Terraform will continue to grow and will be the market leader, if not already, in the cloud deployment space.  So it's going to stay for some time.

I can clearly see in my work, how much we are dependent on terraform to do our configuration updates and creation of resources in the cloud.  So migrating away from Terraform, even if you badly wanted to, can be a humongous task.

So this product is worth investing your time and am sure this will pay rich dividends.

Python mastery

If you are looking to upskill on python. then you look up to the master trainer Rueven Lerner.  He has a very unique and pleasant way of teaching python.

He has a book published with manning called Python workout. Buy that book for indepth dive on python concepts.  It will help you to definitely move your python skills to an intermediate level.

Enjoy !!!

If you want to go very deep on concepts in python, look at Fred baptiste.  His course is very indepth and explains most of the advanced python concepts very well.

You can look to purchase via udemy.  There are four courses overall, I have given you the link of first part down.

Enjoy !!!

https://www.udemy.com/course/python-3-deep-dive-part-1/

if you enjoy working with python like me, you will find both these courses really really good and time spent worthwhile !!!

Coursera Golang specialisation

I got the Coursera specialisation on google Go.  It was a well thought out course structure and well spread out over a period of 10 - 12 weeks.   in my view if you have the time, you can clear all the three courses in one month.

This specialisation has three courses and all of them are good to get started and move you to a beginner plus level in Go.

if you are keen please explore the specialisation in coursera.  Link below

Need to Blog more

I am tied up with lot of office work and exam prep.  Along with busy solving some exercises in Go.  I am bit off my idea of more blogging.

I would definitely need to find some time to pen my thoughts on my tech journey and what i find interesting.

Hope to do more blogging.

AWS Solution Architect Associate

Cleared the AWS Solution Architect Associate exam yesterday.  It was a bit tough, the questions and answers were both lengthier than expected.

It was really good experience and hope to build the momentum with the AWS Solution Architect professional exam.

I used Adrian Cantrill's courses ( learn.cantrill.io ) and tutorials dojo prep tests (tutorialsdojo.com).  Both of them were sufficient  to clear the exam.

Terraform Cert Update

I completed my Terraform associate certification in the month of June 2021.  It was a good experience to give the exam.  Exam focusses on the basics of Terraform and its a good start with TF journey.

I used Zeal Vora's Terraform Exam preparation course from udemy and also used the Terraform practise tests from Brayan Krausen.

Both the above materials were more than sufficient to pass the exam on the first attempt.

AWS Solution Architect Preparation - Series - Day 1

Let's see from today AWS SAA - Preparation.

I have been preparing for the cert since End of June.  I have completed, about 83% of Adrian Cantrill's course.

Course is good and i have learnt a lot about AWS.

Today I focus on Dynamo DB and its architecture.

I will write a separate section/post on the preparation method and the time taken for each section.
